Rodney Ray Wilson of Newport departed this life on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at the age of 55. He was born March 7, 1965, in Newport, the son of Ray and Ernestine (McDaniel) Wilson.
Rodney was a 1983 graduate of Newport High School, where he was active in the ROTC. He worked on Joey Don Huey farms for 35 years and loved farming. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandbabies. Rodney was a gentle giant, who never met a stranger, and he loved people unconditionally. Rodney had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and make people laugh.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother in law, Georgia Dunham.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Dunham) Wilson of the home; one son, David Wilson and wife, Suzanne of Velvet Ridge; one brother, Stephen Wilson and wife, Chris, of Newport; one sister, Geneva Frigon and husband, Steve, of Fairfield, Calif.; five grandchildren, Eric Wilson, Sonny Wilson, Harmony Glover, Hayden Lloyd, and Addison Lloyd; his father-in-law, Jimmy Dunham of Newport; a special aunt and uncle, Jeanette and Carroll Wilson of Newport; and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Memory Garden Cemetery at Johnstown.
Members of the Huey Farm Family are honored to serve as pallbearers.
