A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of State Highways 25 and 233 injured one and caused several thousand dollars worth of damage to a tractor-trailer hauling sand and a van on Tuesday morning.
In his report, Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said a semi was making a right turn off Highway 25 onto 233 while a Chrysler Town & Country van was turning right from Highway 233 onto 25.
As the van was turning right, a Mack tractor-trailer hauling sand that was traveling directly behind the semi on Highway 25 apparently went around the semi and collided with the van.
The driver of the van, identified as Tommy Rae Harris, Jr., 37, told authorities as he was turning right onto 25, he did not see the Mack coming around the semi as he was turning.
The collision caused the Mack, driven by Floyd Michael Northcutt, 38, of Cord, to travel off Highway 25 and into the ditch line before turning over on its side.
Northcutt suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. No injuries were reported to Harris.
The damage estimate to the Mack tractor-trailer was $15,000 while the van suffered an estimated $10,000 worth of damage.
No citations were issued.
