Judge sets date for murder trial in Stone County

nathaniel-freeman-2-2

Dates have been set in Stone County Circuit Court for accused murder suspect Nathaniel Freeman’s pre-trial hearing and trial.

Freeman is charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife, Dora Cary Freeman, in a Sept. 23, 2019 incident.

Witnesses in the case told investigators that Dora Freeman was planning on telling Nathaniel she was leaving him that day, court records note. She had been making plans for an alternate place to live. Investigators described Dora and Nathaniel Freeman as being in a “troubled” marriage, with problems resulting from how Nathaniel treated her when he was drinking alcohol. Investigators also said Nathaniel made prior statements that if Dora left him, it would be over his or her dead body.

The judge set Freeman’s pre-trial hearing for Nov. 10, 2020, and his trial date for Dec. 10, 2020.
