Obituary: George Washington Tanner Jr.

George Washington Tanner Jr., 75, passed away on August 29, 2020. He was born on December 5, 1944, in Morrilton, Arkansas.

George was a pilot, business owner, and farmer. He loved to fish and ride his tractor. But above all, he loved being a father and spending time with his family.

George was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Tanner Sr. and Rosa Smith Tanner; sisters, Jimmadean Tanner, Georgia Manning, Helen Wood, and Rose Marie Allen; brother, David Tanner; and daughter, Yvonne Tanner. He is survived by his son, Ryan Tanner; daughters, Sheila Wiles (Bill), Tina Bufford (Bill), Debbie Tanner, and Gayle Tanner; brother, Rocky Tanner; sisters, Sherry Foster and Margie Abshere; grandchildren, Kendall May, Brad Cowgur, Alex Wiles, Chris Cowgur, Emily Wiles, Kayla May, Tanner Bufford, and Skyler Bufford; and great-grandchildren, Garrett May, Sydney May, Bradley Cowgur, and Madeline Cowgur.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Willis Funeral Service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Willis Service following the visitation, with the burial at Kyler Cemetery. COVID precautions will be in place, and a mask must be worn.
