Obituary: Harriett (Bennett) Luthi

Harriett (Bennett) Luthi of Newport, departed this life on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at the age of 81. She was born August 10, 1939, at the Denton Island Community, the daughter of Marcellus W. and Lillia Mae (Sullins) Bennett.

She was a graduate of Tuckerman High School and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Administration from Park College in Kansas City. She used her knowledge to work as a Nursing Home Administrator in various nursing homes. She was a master gardener, and an excellent seamstress, who enjoyed quilting. She loved singing in church, taking care of her dogs, and cooking for her family.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Dale D. Luthi; one daughter, Marcia Ann Jordan in 2000; two brothers, Gary Nathan Bennett and Noal Bennett; and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, James David Jordan and wife, Carey Lynn of Gainesville, and Robert Jordan and Sandy Robinson of Grubbs; one brother, Bearl Bennett and wife, Delores of Tuckerman; two sisters, Edna Earle Cooper of Newport, and Sylla Easter of Grubbs; four granddaughters, Carissa Bauer of Rogersville, Mo., Randi Kramer of Virginia, Dani Doss of Grubbs, and Erin McDonald of Fayetteville; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Graveside memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Sullins Cemetery with Mr. J.R. Rosado officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Bennett, Randy Bennett, Cody Coffey, Trey Coffey, Bobby Bennett, Kevin Easter, Willie Toddy, Gary Don Bennett, Jason Bennett, Marti Toddy, Sherri Bennett, Gina Farmer, Jeremy Easter, and Employees of The Waters.
