On Friday night the Mountain View Yellowjackets suffered their first loss of the season, a 47-16 loss to the Hoxie Mustangs.

The game started well for the Yellowjackets as they recovered an onside kick on the opening kickoff, then Junior Quarterback Elijah Carlton scored on the third play from scrimmage, a 46-yard touchdown run to give Mountain View an early 8-0 lead.

Hoxie would tie the game on their first play from scrimmage and would not let up, scoring on all, but their final possession for the victory.

Offensively the Yellowjackets CJ Rose led the ground attack with 61 yards on 15 carries, Carlton added 57 yards on four carries and a touchdown before going out of the game on the team’s second possession with an injury.

Sophomore Quarterback Trampas Stubbs replaced Carlton completing four passes for 66 yards and one touchdown pass to Lane Miller in the fourth quarter.  Defensively Miller and Sophomore Landon Goins led with four tackles each.

Hoxie’s Senior Quarterback Daylon Powell led the high powered Mustang offense completing 5-5 passes for 185 yards, three touchdowns.  He also rushed for 45 yards and another score.

Mountain View dropped to 1-1 on the season and Hoxie improved to 2-0.  Next week Mountain View hosts Hector at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mountain View.
