The Southerners dominated both sides of the ball Friday night in Mayflower and walked away with a 28-13 win to give head coach Brian Reardon his first career win as a high school head coach in only his second game.
The Southerners moved the ball easily behind a strong offensive line in the first half but penalties kept them out of the endzone all but once.
Landon Haas scored his fourth touchdown of the season to cap off a 78-yard drive to give Southside a 7-0.
The score stayed 7-0 until the final quarter when Brendan Frazier scored on a 10-yard run.
Touchdowns by Bryson Duncan and Haas sealed the win for the Southerners as they moved to 1-1 in the season. The Southerners ravel to Trumann to take on the Wildcats next week.
