Thearman E. “T.E.” Talley, Jr., of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at the age of 73. He was born Jan. 18, 1947, in West Helena, Arkansas, the son of Thearman Earl Talley, Sr., and Dorothy May Perkinson Talley.
Talley was a 1967 graduate of Cabot High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam.
Talley worked as a carpenter and cattle farmer and retired from Norandal after 35 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post #4683, and Masonic Lodge # 248.
Talley enjoyed tinkering with cars and trucks and spending time talking with his friends. He especially loved his family.
Talley was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Talley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Jean (Holcombe) Talley of the home; two sons, Michael Talley, and wife, Melinda, of Newark, and Jimmy Talley and wife, Michelle, of Newark; one daughter, Melissa Felts, and husband, Joey of Greenbrier, Arkansas; his siblings, Wayne Talley and wife, Kanethia, of Vilonia, Larry Talley of Jacksonville, Leona Lincoln of Texas, and Joe Flanery and wife, Tammy, of Delaware, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Millicent Talley Herndon and husband, Josh, Micah Talley and wife, Katlyn, Malachi Talley and wife, Ashlyn, Matthias Talley, Dalton Ty Felts, and Mackensie Felts; one great-granddaughter, Raelyn Talley; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Newark Church of Christ with Mr. Danny Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Holcombe Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Micah Talley, Malachi Talley, Matthias Talley, Ty Felts, Josh Herndon, and Don Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Lovejoy, Edward Hagar, Roger Pratt, Greg Holcombe, Rick Holcombe, Russell Pfitzner, Bryon Pfitzner; as well as his many friends.
Due to COVID-19 mandates, a mask is required of each person attending visitation or funeral services. Also, social distancing rules will apply.
