A 19-year-old Bald Knob man died Monday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to walk across U.S. Highway 67 near Searcy.
The Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Summary says a 2019 Dodge Charger was northbound on Highway 67 near the 55-mile marker in White County when a man, identified as Caleb Basinger-Wills, attempted to cross westbound over 67 from the shoulder of the northbound lanes.
The summary says the driver of the Charger was unable to slow down in time, and the front of his vehicle struck Basinger-Wills in the left lane of the highway. After the impact, the victim was knocked into the median of Highway 67 and the Charger came to a final position facing north.
