James Ed Davis, 75, of Newport departed this life Wednesday, September 23, 2020. He was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Newport, Arkansas to Sylvester and Alice Davis. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Mr. Davis enjoyed cutting grass, spending time with his family, old school Gospel, BBQ’s, and Banana Pudding.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Davis, daughter, Erica Harrison, and sisters, Bobbie Gene Robinson and Dora Marshall.
His survivors are sons, Dewayne Hardaway of Augusta, Cedric Friar of Newport, Jamie Davis (Donyelle) of Newport, and Tyler Davis (Arnice) Dinwiddie of Newport; daughters, Tameka Friar of Zion, Illinois, Daquita Davis of Zion, Illinois, Veronica Davis of Swifton, and Amber Davis of Newport; twenty-one grandchildren; niece, Samantha Suggs of Searcy; cousin, Ann Stephenson of Newport; and special caregiver, Teresa Dodson.
