With the senior population, particularly those in nursing homes, at high risk for the coronavirus, White River Now’s Gary Bridgman took a look at COVID-19-related statistics at such regional facilities with the help of some numbers from a Sept. 18 Arkansas Department of Health report.
- The Springs of Batesville, a 150-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility in north Batesville reported a total of 40 positive cases of coronavirus. Thirty cases were residents while 10 were staff members. As of Sept. 18., two of the resident cases had already recovered, leaving 28 active cases, all of which are now in a quarantine section of the facility.
- There was only one other nursing home in Independence County with positive testing returns. The Sept. 18 report showed four positive cases at Mountain Meadows with one of the four being a resident and also active. Three staff members also tested positive, with one already recovered and two still active.
- In Stone County, The Waters of Mountain View showed 28 positive cases among residents and staff. Nineteen residents tested positive with one already recovered, three expired, and 15 cases were still active on Sept. 18. The most recent positive case goes back to Sept. 3. Nine staff members tested positive, and all nine have already recovered.
- Pioneer Therapy and Living in Melbourne showed no residents positive and one staff member as of Sept. 18. The last positive case reported was Sept. 8.
- The Newport Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center reported three positive cases, all staff members. Two of those staff members had already recovered by the reporting date and one still remained active as of Sept. 21.
- In Cleburne County, the Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Heber Springs reported no residents testing positive. However, two staff members did test positive with one recovered by Sept. 18.
- And the Cave City Nursing Home reported no positive cases as of the Sept. 18 date.
