Mountain View Yellowjackets fall to the Harding Academy Wildcats Friday night, 49-22

The Mountain View Yellowjackets three-game winning streak came to an end Friday night at Yellowjacket Stadium with a 49-22 loss to number one ranked Harding Academy Wildcats.

Mountain View jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on a 61-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Carlton to J’Air Jackson.

The Wildcats responded with a two-yard touchdown run by Andrew Miller to close the gap to 8-7 and took the lead on another touchdown run by Miller.

The Yellowjackets would retake the lead 16-14 on a 65-yard touchdown pass again from Carlton to Jackson.

Harding Academy’s offense proved too strong scoring the next 35 points to take a commanding 49-16 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mountain View’s offense had some opportunities but couldn’t capitalize until Carlton would punch it in from three-yard line late in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Carlton led the offense with 19 carries for 123 yards and 6-9 passing for 154 yards and three total touchdowns.

Jackson had three receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively for the Yellowjackets Lane Miller led with seven tackles, followed by six tackles each by Landon Goins and Zach Hulsey.

Mountain View fell to 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while Harding Academy improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Next week Mountain View travels to Newport to take on the Greyhounds.
