Obituary: Alus Taft Thomas

Alus Taft Thomas, Jr., 87, passed away on Oct. 2, 2020. He was born on Aug. 21, 1933, in Batesville, AR.

Alus was of the Baptist faith. He attended Draughon’s Business School to be a mechanical engineer for the V. A. Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Boyd. Alus was a great dad and a hero to his family.

Alus was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn “Sissy” Thomas; parents, Alus Thomas Sr. and Ethel Milligan Thomas; sister, Billie Taylor; and grandson, David Taft Thomas. He is survived by his son, David Scott Thomas of Southside; daughters, Diane McDougal and Jenny Loos, both of Southside; brother, Joe Thomas (Patsy) and special brother, Dr. Jerry Thomas; sister, Peggy Stewart of Southside; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Egner Cemetery in Salado, AR at 10 a.m. officiated by Jody Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Thomas, Chris Magouyrk, Chris Stewart, Taft Sherrill, and Marshel Bray.
