Janet Kay (Hoover) Herndon, 71, of Batesville passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, in Little Rock.
She was born in Manchester, Kentucky on December 10, 1948, to Vincent and Addie (Sizemore) Hoover.
Janet was a member of Southside Assembly of God. She was a strong-willed, courageous woman who loved her family above all else. Janet loved to shop, scratch lottery tickets (whether she came out ahead or not made no difference to her), and stopping at every antique store she saw. She had a never-ending love for, and spent time collecting all things Elvis. When it came to Christmas, Janet was the spirit of the season for her family. She loved decorating her house top to bottom with Christmas lights, angels, Santas, and jingle bells. Janet never passed up the opportunity to tell a story about her youth and growing up. Humorous, light-hearted, sad, dramatic-Janet had a story for every occasion and was always a joy to listen to. Janet had a kind heart, graceful soul, and welcoming presence. Her door was open for anyone in need at any time, no questions asked. Janet led her life with her best foot forward and had a positive impact on every person she encountered.
She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Peebles (Michael) of Batesville, Arkansas, Samantha Hogan (Curtis) of Bay, Arkansas; three sons, Clayton Herndon (Valerie) of Batesville, Arkansas, Cory Herndon of Batesville, Arkansas, Caleb Herndon of Batesville, Arkansas; two brothers, Paul Hoover (Kaye) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jerry Phillips (Sue) of Florida; one sister, Judy Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas.; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Alyssa, Suzanna Bates, Addy Middleton, Quaine, Micah, Landry Rae Hogan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
