An apartment in Newark has become a crime scene, according to Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens.

Stephens said his officers were called to the Independence Village Apartments on Long Street, behind Harp’s on Tuesday, where a body had been discovered in one of the apartments.

The Arkansas State Police was called to lead the investigation and assist with manpower. The ASP will be handling all media information.
