Two cases were filed this week in Stone County Circuit Court involving illegal drugs.

In one case, court records say a search of a parolee’s residence led to charges against Mark Wesley Whitfield, 50. The search was by parole officers and Stone County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The search found an amount of methamphetamine and four drug paraphernalia items, according to court records.

Whitfield was taken to jail and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Whitfield’s bond was set at $15,000.

The second case involved a traffic stop in which two men were arrested. It was after an investigation and search that turned up two syringes. One of the passengers, John Bowen, 26, was wanted on a warrant out of Dardanelle, Ark. The other man, Tyler William O’Conner, 24, was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia when he admitted that two syringes found in the vehicle belonged to him, according to the court records.

O’Conner is in the Stone County Jail under a $5,000 bond, and Bowen is off to Lee County to satisfy the warrant for his arrest.
