Obituary: Eloise Branscum

Eloise Richardson Branscum, 92, of Allen Chapel, entered the gates of heaven on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020. Eloise was born at the family home on Sidney Street in Batesville, Arkansas, on Nov. 29, 1927, to Blan and Gertie Lassiter Richardson.

Eloise was a Christian, and she was a true servant of the Lord. Her father was instrumental in founding Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Her parents were charter members of the church, and Blan was the first deacon to serve there. All her life, Eloise worshipped at the church, and she served in many capacities including teaching Sunday school classes, singing in the choir, and chairing the program committee. Part of her legacy includes writing and directing the first Easter production of “The Passion Play” at Allen Chapel. She brought her concept to life with her narrative and vision to present the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. The production became an annual event that over the years was seen by thousands of people.

Eloise was preceded in death by both parents; her husband of 60 years, Troy Branscum; her brothers Leamon Richardson and Jimmy Richardson; her sisters Madelyn Pierce, Eupha Edwards,  Ruth Sullivan, and an infant sister, Minnie Ellen Richardson. She is survived by her son, Mike Branscum (Helen); her daughter, Connie Lawrence (Jerry Hayes); her sister, Judy Butler of Washington; 4 grandchildren; Shannon Lawrence (Marcia), Jason Lawrence, Katherine Eller (Doug), and Megan Millsap (Matt); 3 great-grandchildren; Brittney Scarbrough (James), Brady Lawrence (Candice), and Adrien Millsap; three great-greatgrandchildren; Khloe Lawrence, Olivia Scarbrough, and Ellie Scarbrough; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers include grandsons, nephews, Eric Low, and Dwayne Lawrence.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville. There will be a visitation at Willis Funeral Service on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church will host a Funeral Service on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Tim Landers and Bro. Randy Harris officiating.

Interment to follow at Egner Cemetery in Salado. All CDC guidelines will be in place throughout all services, and a mask must be worn.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Meadows for loving and caring for Mrs. Branscum. She loved all her caregivers and considered the facility her home.
