Mark Lamberth marks 25th year as “Voice of the Pioneers” on 93 KZLE

He heads a very successful asphalt company, but in his time away from work, he has a very special passion: local sports.

Batesville’s Mark Lamberth is celebrating his 25th season as the “Voice of the Pioneers.”

Batesville Pioneers Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Dave King knows Lamberth just as well as anyone outside the coach’s family. Coach King told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman that Lamberth has been a staple of the Pioneer football program since the beginning of his time as the Pioneer head coach.

“Mark Lamberth and I have been together since the start,” said Coach King. “My mom lived over in northwest Arkansas, and she would always listen to the broadcast and tell me how much she enjoyed listening to Mark and Bill [Shelton, Lamberth’s longtime, now retired, on-air color commentator] on the radio. He’s just been a staple of Pioneer football ever since I started this. I appreciate him so much in all his time and efforts that have gone towards the program and the broadcast.”

Lamberth has experienced many highlights in calling Pioneer football play-by-play — with one being the 2003 state football playoffs when the Pioneers were crowned state champions.

The game was broadcast from War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock — something Lamberth said he had always wanted to do: play-by-play for the Pioneers from War Memorial.

Listen to Mark and his broadcast partner, Ronald Richardson, Friday night as the Batesville Pioneers take on the Valley View Blazers from Pioneer Stadium.
