Mountain View Yellowjackets end their season Friday night, 38-20

Friday night the Mountain View Yellowjackets season came to an end with 38-20 loss to the Hackett Hornets in the first round of the Class 3A State Playoffs.

Mountain View jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with 5:35 left in the first quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Elijah Carlton.

Hackett would take the lead with 10:33 remaining in the second quarter on a six-yard touchdown run by Fischer Shipman.

The two-point conversion was successful to give the Hornets the 8-6 lead.

The Yellowjackets would retake the lead 12-8 on their next drive a 10 play, 54-yard drive that was capped off with a one-yard touchdown run by Carlton.

Hackett would add two scores before halftime, an 11-yard touchdown run by Weston Winter and an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ethan Slavens to Payton Hester to take a 24-12 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, Hackett would add two scores in the fourth quarter to take a 38-12 lead.

Mountain View would add a late touchdown on a pass from Elijah Carlton to Senior Sawyer Robinson.

The two-point conversion was successful on a run by Senior Hunter Smith and Mountain View trailed 38-20.

Mountain View offense was led by C.J. Rose who had 21 carries for 97 yards, Carlton finished with 15 carries for 57 yards and 26 yards receiving, Smith four carries for 40 yards, and Robinson had two receptions for 15 yards.

Defensively Carlton led the way with nine tackles, Landon Goins, Lane Miller and Randall Rorie each had six tackles.

Mountain View’s season ended with an exit from the first round of the Class 3A State Playoffs and a 5-6 overall record.

Hackett improved to 5-4 overall and will advance to play Booneville in the second round of the Class 3A State Playoffs.
