Arkansas official: Tornado injures 4 people, destroys homes

ROMANCE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a tornado in northeast Arkansas left four people injured.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the severe weather Sunday was near Romance, an unincorporated community about 23 miles (37.01 kilometers) west of Searcy.

No deaths were reported.

White County Sheriff Phillip Miller says the four injured people were hospitalized for evaluation. He says one woman suffered broken bones and bruises.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock tweeted on Sunday that the tornado rated a 1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with estimated peak winds of 86 to 110 mph.
