A man arrested last Wednesday in Izard County for domestic battery, aggravated assault, terroristic threatening, and endangering the welfare of a minor will appear Tuesday in circuit court on the charges.

According to a release from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to Day Road, just outside of Horseshoe Bend, on Nov. 11, for a domestic assault.

During an investigation, it was determined Michael Gilbreath (pictured), 46, of Ash Flat, had allegedly assaulted an 89-year-old victim, according to the release. Authorities said Gilbreath also apparently held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened the victim’s life. The release noted minors were present during the assault.

Gilbreath was taken to jail and placed on a $20,000 cash bond.
