Shelly Hendrix with the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce visited with the White River Now Family of radio stations about the chamber’s campaign to shop local this year, “Keep the Cheer Here.” And, she also previewed some highlights of the seasonal fun, including the Friday opening of the 70-foot, LED Ferris wheel in White River Winter Wonderland at Riverside Park. (Rides on the Ferris wheel must be booked in advance by going to this link.)

“Keep the Cheer Here” will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, and will be celebrated by a variety of businesses in Batesville. Participating merchants will offer discount opportunities, giveaways, treats, and more. Plus, to celebrate “Keep the Cheer Here,” Hendrix said some popular characters from Whoville, including someone described as very “Grinchy,” will be making appearances throughout town.

There will also be two chances to win cash prizes: The Spend to Win contest which allows shoppers to earn a chance to win $500 in cash for every $25 spent at a participating merchant, and the “I Kept the Cheer Here” selfie contest which will encourage shoppers to make a purchase in order to receive a sticker. The shoppers must then take a photo wearing the sticker and upload the image to Facebook or Instagram tagging the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce to earn a chance to win $250 cash.
