Francis Ray Phelps, 91, of Mountain View, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at Baptist Medical Center East in Memphis, Tenn. Ray was born on June 28, 1929, in Taylorville, Ill. to Francis and Lillian (Reed) Phelps.
Ray worked for many years as a police officer in Lodi, Cal., and then as a truck driver after moving to Mountain View. Ray will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Jean (Foley) Phelps; one son, Ricky Ray Phelps; step-daughter, Linda Hartle of California; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lillian (Reed) Phelps; brother, Don Phelps; sister, Evelyn ”Mamie” Peden, and step-brother, Clarence W. ”Clancy” Reed; step-son, Lynn Root; and great-grandson, Alex Harbut.
Ray will be cremated and there will be no services at this time.
