Obituary: Veda Ruth Barnes Hill

Veda Ruth Barnes Hill, 90, passed away on Nov. 26, 2020. She was born on Oct. 10, 1930, in Cushman.

Veda was a member of the Harrison Street Church of Christ in Batesville.

She loved to play music — especially the guitar, as well as sew and cook.

But above all, she loved spending time with family and having family gatherings. Veda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Hill; parents, Charles and Maude Barnes; sons, Jimmy Calvin Hill and Michael Barnes Hill; infant daughter, Loretta; five sisters and two brothers; and two sons-in-law.

She is survived by her daughters, Anita Freiert (Rick), Beverly Mason, Lesa Dame, Rebecca Carlile (Tom); grandchildren, Jonathan Freiert (Ashley), Jeffrey Freiert (Jesse), Johanna Rea (Josh), Matthew Mason (Shandra), Holly Cooley (Wade), Brandi Hill, Roxanne Hill, Derek Hill, Edward House, Michael House (Kayla), Emily Mann (John), Matt Dame, Ashley Taylor (Dustin), Rachel Lovell (Andy), and Maggie Henderson (Luke); as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service, officiated by Steve Smith, will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at 2 p.m. COVID-19 precautions will be in place, and a mask must be worn.

Pallbearers are Jonathan Freiert, Jeffrey Freiert, Edward House, Michael House, Wade Cooley, and Dustin Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers are Rick Freiert, Tom Carlile, Phillip Lloyd, Matt Lloyd, Danny Franks, Tom German, Josh Rea, Andy Lovell, Luke Henderson, Derek Hill, and Matthew Mason.
