The Batesville School District has been selected through Save the Children to participate in the Farmers to Families Food Box Pickup, Friday, Dec. 4.
The large, free boxes of fresh produce, meat, and dairy products will be distributed at Batesville High School, 1 Pioneer Drive, on the new road that goes behind Pioneer Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m.
“We are so excited about it, that we have this opportunity to give to our families and to give back to our community,” Batesville High School Principal Stacey Lindsey (pictured above) told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman Thursday morning.
Lindsey said there are 800 boxes that will be distributed to any family without income requirements. The distribution will be “first come, first serve,” but she said there will likely be more pickups scheduled in the month. Participants will be asked to stay in their vehicles and to be mindful of COVID-19 health and safety practices.
