A Melbourne man is facing numerous charges of domestic battery.

According to Izard County Chief Deputy Sheriff Charley Melton, authorities responded to a Melbourne residence on Nov. 29 on reports that a man identified as Jamaal Ensley, 38, of Melbourne, had allegedly hit a child multiple times leaving marks.

Ensley is facing three counts of domestic battery in the second degree and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree.

Ensley’s (pictured above) bond was set at $25,000 cash, and he is scheduled to appear in the Izard County Circuit Court on December 23.

In other Izard County news from the sheriff’s department, Faith Jackson, 57, of Melbourne, was arrested on Dec. 4 and charged with three counts of theft after an investigation into items being taken from outside various businesses in Melbourne. Also arrested in connection:

  • Jeremy Barner, 49, of Melbourne, was arrested on Nov. 28 and charged with four counts of theft of property;
  • Karmen Barner, 41, of Melbourne, was arrested on Nov. 30 and also charged with four counts of theft;
  • And Randall Jackson, 58, of Melbourne, was arrested on Dec. 4 and charged with four counts of theft.

The Barners are scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court on Dec. 10. The Jacksons are scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court on Jan. 21, 2021.

And as a result of Thomas Slusher (pictured below), 57 of Horseshoe Bend, apparently not following up on two separate dates to verify his information as a sex offender, he was charged on Dec. 1 with failure to register or verify registration generally as a sex offender, a Class C felony, according to the sheriff’s department.

Slusher’s bond was set at $10,000 professional along with a court date of Dec. 23 in the Izard County Circuit Court.
