A Pleasant Grove, Ark., man has been charged with felony terroristic threatening in Stone County Circuit Court.

The charge resulted from an encounter in which John Richard Elliott, 52, had with employees of the Mountain View Walmart Pharmacy.

According to the arrest affidavit, Elliot had dropped off a prescription at 6 a.m. on Dec. 1 was informed later that morning that his “insurance wasn’t working.” The affidavit said Elliot became upset but was told the pharmacy could call the insurance carrier at 8:30 a.m. A pharmacy employee told Elliot left in a “good mood,” according to the affidavit.

The court information said Elliot’s new insurance required a physician’s authorization, so the pharmacy called the doctor, and the doctor, in turn, was to contact the insurance company.

According to the arrest affidavit, Elliot called the pharmacy employee back later in the morning, and after being told the pharmacy was still waiting on the doctor’s office to contact the insurance company, he allegedly said he “…might have to make a trip up there and shoot somebody in the f****** head,” and then hung up the phone.

The affidavit said two pharmacy employees who had dealt with Elliot were visibly upset over their encounter with him. The court has placed a No Contact order concerning the employees.

The Walmart manager also noted he wanted Elliot barred from the store.

Elliot’s bond was set at $10,000.
