Batesville High School Bowling Coach Samantha Hogan says the season has gotten off to a great start.
“I’m really proud of how hard our bowlers have been working to prepare for this season,” she said in an email. “We have a very young girl’s team and I’m seeing much improvement from the beginning of the school year.”
The first match was Dec. 1 against Cedar Ridge, however, both schools had several missing due to contact quarantines, so competition was done with coed squads.
Batesville won the day 13-0. BHS high scorers were Landen Hodge with a 211 and Katelyn Barksdale with a 195 & 189. Cedar Ridge’s Joey Benard topped their players with a 160.
Our second match was Dec. 7 against Concord. BHS boys won 13-0 while the BHS girls pulled a 9.5-3.5 win. Batesville’s top bowlers were Maxx Briggs with a 192 and Sophia Strain with a 170. Concord’s top bowlers were Nick Sartain with a 158 and Nikki Duke with a 166.
