Both Mountain View Yellowjackets teams win on the road at Bald Knob Friday night

Sophomore Sam Fletcher hit four free throws in the final 40 seconds of the game to break a 36-36 tie and propel the Mountain View Yellowjackets to a 41-36 victory over the Bald Knob Bulldogs.

Mountain View trailed 34-32 in the final two minutes of the game when the Yellowjacket defense would force a turnover on back to back possessions both ending with Kaedn Henderson hitting a layup on the other end to give Mountain View a two-point lead.

Bald Knob would tie the game at 36 on their next possession and have an opportunity to take the lead after a defensive stop, however Mountain View would force a turnover which led to Fletcher’s winning free throws.

Senior Bryce Baird led the Yellowjackets offense with 11 points, Brayden Scribner added nine points, Kaedn Henderson had seven points and Elijah Carlton scored six points.

Mountain View improved to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

In the first game of the night, the Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to a 21-6 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 54-29 victory over the Bald Knob Lady Bulldogs.

Josie Storey led the Lady ‘Jackets with 14 points, Aubrey Isbell had 13 points and six assists, Kennedy Holland added 10 points, and Emily Fletcher added seven points.

The Lady Yellowjackets improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
