Margie Ann (Brown) Meeks, 78, of Batesville passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020.

She was born July 2, 1942, in Kerrville, Texas to William Marion Brown and Margret (Liesman) Brown.

Margie, known to many as Nannie and to some as Monie, loved her family very much. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed arts and crafts and sewing different things for her family. She enjoyed cooking very much and made sure anyone visiting her was fed before leaving. She loved Elvis and his music and always dreamed of one day visiting Graceland. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many characters, but her favorite was always Betty Boop. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting various flea markets and was always on the lookout for a good deal.

Warm hugs, good food, and great laughs are only a few words to describe how caring she was. No matter what was going on in the lives of others, she was always willing to offer these things. Regardless of what was going on when you entered her door, she could make the world fall away and everything would be perfect for just a little while. She was an ear to listen to all you had to say, a shoulder to cry on, two arms for uplifting hugs, and a bright spirit who was always happy to celebrate the victories of her loved ones.

She raised several children and helped raise many more. Even in the later parts of her life, she was continuing to help raise kids up to be happy and healthy. Margie was amazing with children and could make their frowns turn to smiles within moments of seeing them. Children adored her for her witty sense of humor, her loving presence, and the candy she would always have.

Survivors include her son, Larry Dale Meeks (Lisa) of Jacksonville, Texas; two daughters, Glenda Jean Meeks of Batesville and Laura Annette Collum (Eddie) of Bullard, Texas; five brothers, Bill Brown (Mary) of Mesquite, Texas, Wayne Brown (Sandy) of Colony, Texas, Albert Brown of Krugerville, Texas, Johnny Brown (Betty) of Grapevine, Texas, and Bobby Brown (Beverly) of Irving, Texas; four grandchildren with four (soon to be five) great-grandchildren, Scott Meeks, Joshua Meeks, and his children, Isis Meeks and Griffin Meeks, Jo Anne Desselle (Taylor) and their two children, and Devon Anderson expecting in June; and her former husband, Larry Gene Meeks as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, James Meeks; mother-in-law, Gleta Meeks; father-in-law, Joe Meeks; two brothers-in-law, Billy Joe Meeks (Mildred) and Don Meeks, and her grandson, Cody Moody.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Leroy and Dr. Corey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Lighthouse Church of Bullard, Texas.

Memorials may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
