Sandra Black, 77, formerly of Batesville passed away Dec. 29, 2020.
She was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Little Rock to Arthur Truman and Era Lorraine (Smither) Smirl.
As a pastor’s wife for many years, she was very active in many aspects of the church. She worked as District Treasurer for the Batesville School District for several years. Sandra was of the Southern Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, shopping, and trips to Branson, but being with her grandchildren and family were among her favorite times. She had a gentle spirit and was always willing to listen and help others.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Spurlin (Steve) of Lubbock, Texas and Christi Parrish (Jamie) of Vilonia and three grandchildren, Camryn Spurlin and Christian Spurlin, both of Lubbock, Texas and Jay Parrish of Vilonia as well as a host of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Jim L. Black; her brothers, Edmond Smirl and Steve Smirl, and one sister, Norma Nash.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Steve Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitations will be one hour prior to the service.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering and social distancing will be observed.
