Obituary: Ginny Underwood

underwood-virginia1

Virginia “Ginny” Underwood, 87, of Henderson, Arkansas went from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, in Henderson, Arkansas.

She was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Grand Glaise, AR to the late Anna Louise King O’Neal and Harrold G Siler.

She married her soul mate and the love of her life, Bruce Underwood on Nov. 10, 1966, in Memphis, TN.

Ginny was an avid bowler who loved coaching young teens and special needs children. She was an excellent seamstress and made anything from cheerleading outfits to wedding dresses.

Ginny and Bruce moved to Cave City in 1973 where they owned and operated Underwood’s Corner. They loved Lake Norfork so much that they moved to the lake in 1986 where they owned and operated B & G Auto Parts.

Ginny loved sharing her love for the lake by taking all the kids and later the grandkids camping and to the lake in their pontoon. She was also a member of the Henderson Fire Dept Women’s Auxiliary.

She even worked on Saturdays for the Henderson Post Office but Bruce wanted her to quit because it took time away from “their” time. She also worked for North Arkansas Food Bank.

She was a standing member of Lake Norfork Community Church and was so blessed to be there. Ginny dearly loved her church family and the feeling was mutual. Ginny had a great sense of humor. After her husband, Bruce passed, she was asked if she would date or even re-marry. Her response … “why have bologna when you’ve had steak?”

Ginny is survived by her daughters, Barb (Jack) Coles of Lee’s Summit, MO, Joe (Shelly) Underwood of Lake Charles, LA, Neva Jackson of Southside, AR, Kathie (Jerry) Sullivan of Smithville, AR, and Donna (John) Williamson of Mountain Home, AR; two brothers, Vic (Donna) O’Neal of Hot Springs Village, AR, Randy (Donna) Mobley of Southaven, MS and two sisters, Peggy Stewart of Olive Branch, MS and Ann (Terrell) Sides of Hot Springs, AR; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and
