Batesville Patrolman Kody Headley was dispatched to the 1300-block of Davis Lane in reference to a subject shooting a handgun up into the air on Jan. 23.

A citizen informed Officer Headley there were two subjects who left the area walking toward Ross Street.

Headley caught up with them and was soon joined by Sergeant Rick Davis to assist.

The officers eventually caught up with the two and were able to begin an investigation.

Headley discovered that one of the two, Curtis Lee Watson (pictured), 33, had a 9 mm pistol in his pants leg.

Watson is previously convicted felon of a violent crime and was placed under arrest.

The jail staff located on Watson two plastic baggies inside of a cigarette pack he was
carrying. One contained a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine and the second baggie contained marijuana.

Watson was charged with three felonies; possession with the purpose to deliver methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, and simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm.

His bond was set at $50,000.
