The North Arkansas Dance Theatre (NADT) was one of the recipients of a local donation courtesy of Mohawk Industries located in Izard County.

Mohawk Industries’ Chelsea Burton (left) made an appearance at this month’s NADT board meeting to hand over a check in the amount of $2,959.88 to the non-profit dance troupe.

“Our employees take part in a payroll deduction each pay period and that money is then given to local non-profits throughout the area,” Burton said. “NADT is one of the main non-profits that give back to the community through the arts, and we wanted to give back as well.”

Other non-profits that the flooring company donated to was the Ozarka College Foundation, the Melbourne School, New Beginnings Program, the 4-H Melbourne Shooters Club, and the Izard County Fair Board Purple Circle. “Each non-profit received the same amount of money,” Burton said. “We are always so happy to give back and to see how happy it makes others. When we presented the check to the New Beginnings Program, we all just stood there and cried and cried.”

NADT noted in a release it was honored to receive the gift and NADT Director Cindy Hubberd (right) and staff were speechless when the check was handed over.

“We are so honored to have been selected to receive such a generous gift especially in these trying times of COVID where we haven’t been able to have our two annual fundraisers,” says Hubberd. “With locations in Melbourne, Batesville, and Mountain View, we have been able to keep our company members dancing and doing mini-performances in spite of COVID restrictions and with still having operating expenses. Our local dancers want to thank Mohawk Industries for helping to keep their dreams alive.”
