Marian (Tims) James of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, in Little Rock at the age of 75.

She was born Dec. 8, 1945, in Newport, the daughter of Nelson Buddy and Marcel (Heatherly) Tims.

Marian was a 1963 graduate of Newport High School and attended Arkansas State in Jonesboro where she earned her BA degree in education.

She was a flight attendant for TWA and American Airlines for 37 years before retiring.

Marian was a member of the Retired Flight Attendants Club, as well as the Newport Country Club, where she enjoyed gathering with friends and playing Mahjong.

She enjoyed golfing and playing cards, and absolutely loved hats! Marian had an infectious smile and a bubbly personality. She was a people person, who loved everyone around her.

As a result, Marian was greatly loved in return.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George James; and her parents.

Marian is survived by her soul mate and significant other, Richard Peel of the home; one sister, Martha (Tims) Roth of Fairway, Kansas; her uncle, Hubert Earl Heatherly, Jr., of Seattle, Washington; special cousins, Jim Heatherly and wife, Shirley, of Newport, and Tracy Heatherly of Oakley, California; several relatives, a host of other cousins, and a lifetime of friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Newport High School Class of 1963, and Marians’ Mahjong Group.
