Obituary: Earl “Cody” Thomas

Earl “Cody” Thomas, 89 of Salado passed away, Friday, Jan. 29, 2021.

He was born June 15, 1931, in Batesville, Arkansas to Earl H. and Maggie Ellen (Evans) Thomas.

He was retired from International Shoe Factory in Batesville and was co-owner of the Southside Dairy Bar.  He had served on the Southside School Board and the Southside Water Board and was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister; one great-grandson, Garrett Yeager, and one great-great-grandson, Hunter Gambill.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Patsy Ballard Thomas; three sons, Tommy Thomas (Brenda) of Salado; Tim Thomas (Sharon) of Southside and Jim Earl Thomas (Debbie) of Magness; three daughters, Pam Stephens (Brad) of Salado, Tammy Hurley (Tim) of Batesville and Patti Thomas of Jonesboro; one brother, Tommy Gene Thomas of Orange, Texas; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.at the Southside Church of Christ with Bill Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Cody Thomas Winkle, Cole House, Bo House, Keegan Floyd, Noah Pinkston, and Brian Yeager.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Cummings; Coffee Shop Friends at the Scenic and the Men of the Southside Church of Christ.
