Stone County man consents to vehicle search during a traffic stop, meth found

siren-police-7

A Stone County man last week consented to a vehicle search during a traffic stop and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Charles Travis Vanvleet, 31, had been pulled over by State Trooper Jonathan Arnold
for speeding.

During the course of the traffic stop, Trooper Arnold asked Vanvleet if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, and Vanvleet said, “no.”

Trooper Arnold then asked Vanvleet for permission to search his vehicle and Vanvleet
said, “yes”.

In a cigarette pack in the front cup holder, Trooper Arnold found a plastic baggie with meth inside.

Vanvleet was arrested, and taken to the Stone County Detention Center.

He has been charged in Circuit Court with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Vanvleet’s case has been turned over to the District Drug Task Force and he has been placed on a $2,500 bond.
