White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker recently sat down to visit with APRN Crystal Allen (pictured) from the White River Medical Center’s cardiology department about February being American Heart Month and the risk factors associated with heart disease.
Allen tells Whiteaker that American Heart Month brings awareness associated with the risk of heart disease and informs the public about measures they can do to help prevent the disease.
“Heart health easily impacts all areas of our lives,” Allen says. “How well we tolerate activity and therefore, how much quality of life we have. The condition of our heart impacts most other chronic medical conditions as well — such as lung disease, kidney disease, and it can even impact our mental health.”
