Newport man identified as fatality in Hwy. 25 accident

A 25-year-old Newport man was killed Saturday when his 1999 Ford Ranger collided with a 2004 Peterbilt.

The accident occurred on Highway 25 in Independence County around 12:50 yesterday afternoon.

According to the Arkansas State Police, Anthony Q. Knuckles, 25, was northbound on Highway 25 when his Ranger crossed the center line and struck the Peterbilt which was traveling southbound. The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.

State Police Investigating Officer Cpl. Jeremy C. Hughes reported the weather was cloudy and the road condition was dry.
