Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced during his weekly COVID-19 briefing that Phase 1-B will be expanding effective March 2 to include food manufacturing workers.

This expansion will cover an estimated 49,000 Arkansans.

Arkansas will receive 24,000 Johnson & Johnson vaccines this week in the initial shipment. This is a single-dose vaccine and it can be stored at room temperature.

50 percent of the 70+ age group have received one dose, 24.7 percent in the age group are fully-vaccinated. The Arkansas Department of Health would like to see that number continue to rise.

440 new cases and four deaths were added to the state’s total. Currently, there are 4,254 active cases statewide. Hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 continue to decline.

New UK Variant confirmed by the CDC to be in the state. “This is not something that we did not expect,” Dr. Jose Romero.

Romero also added that the vaccines that are available are effective against the UK variant.

The below images breakdown the latest COVID-19 and vaccination stats for Arkansas as of March 2.
