Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets named Regional Tournament Champions Saturday, defeating Hoxie, 60-33

For the third time in four years, the Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets are the Regional Tournament Champions after defeating the Hoxie Lady Mustangs 60-33 on Saturday afternoon at Manila High School.
After each team traded baskets early, Mountain View Junior Emry Johnson took a pass from Josie Storey to score and closeout a 12-4 run to end the first quarter with Mountain View leading 17-8.
Storey hit three, three-pointers in the first quarter.
Mountain View outscored the Lady Mustangs 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 32-17 halftime lead.
Hoxie began the second half hitting back to back three’s to close the Lady ‘Jackets lead to nine.
Kennedy Holland hit a two-pointer from the wing to stop the Lady Mustang run, Storey hit two free throws, Chaelann Vickers would get a steal and a layup and Storey would hit a three to close the 10-5 run to give Mountain View a 42-28 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Mountain View opened the fourth quarter with a 15-3 run to put the game out of reach.
Storey would hit three, three-pointers, Holland hit a jumper from the wing, Johnson had back to back baskets in the lane, and Aubrey Isbell would close out the run with a three-point play.
Storey led the Mountain View scoring attack with 22 points, Johnson had 11 points and 11 rebounds, Holland and Vickers each added nine points, Isbell had five points, seven rebounds, and six assists as Mountain View improved to 20-3 overall on the season.
Hoxie was led by Jaecie Brown with 15 points, and Jaedyn Brown with 11 points as Hoxie falls to 25-3.
Mountain View will play Lakeside on Tuesday morning in the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament at Clinton High School.
