Independence County Sheriff’s Department investigating homicide


The Independence County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene of an apparent homicide late Friday night.

According to a release from the department, Independence County Deputies responded to an address in the southern part of the county on March 19 for a subject being shot. Upon arrival, deputies located two males: one deceased from an apparent gunshot wound while the other was placed into custody and identified as the suspect.

The crime scene is being investigated as a homicide. The names of both individuals are being withheld at this time pending further investigation. No further details will be released at this time, the statement said.
