An Izard County man was found deceased in his truck Sunday morning by a neighbor who
came to a house fire.
The neighbor told authorities that he found the house on fire and the homeowner deceased in his truck in front of the house.
He said he pulled the man out of the truck and away from the burning house.
The incident occurred in the 700-block of Peterson Circle in Mount Pleasant.
Sheriff Jack Yancey said evidence gathered at the scene along with interviews of witnesses is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot death.
The Sheriff said the body has been sent to the State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.
Sheriff Yancey said the case is still under investigation, and the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The Sheriff said foul play is not suspected at this time.
