Melba Louise Sherrell, 89, of Newport departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
She was born Dec. 24, 1931, to George and Vivian (Whitlock) Bartlett.
Mrs. Sherrell was of the Methodist belief. She was a loving mother and grandmother who took pride in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading romance novels and working on crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benny Franklin Sherrell Jr.; and two brothers.
She is survived by her son, Benny Franklin Sherrell III; her daughter, Elizabeth Louise Davis and husband Jerry; four grandchildren, Jerry W. Davis Jr., Jeremiah Franklin Davis, Troy Gray Davis, Matthew Joseph Davis; six great-grandchildren, Brady Davis, Emily Davis, Sarah Davis, Dylan Davis, Dustin Davis, Meagan Davis and two great-great-grandchildren, Beau and Xada.
Graveside services will be Friday, March 26, 2021, at 2:00 at Sandhill Cemetery with Benny Sherrell III officiating.
