Two Independence County residents are facing felony drug charges in Stone County Circuit Court.

Court records filed Monday say a Southside woman, Krystal L. Scheffler, 47, was pulled over in Stone County on Highway 14 East, near Pleasant Grove, on April 2.

The court documents say during a search of the vehicle, officers found two baggies of methamphetamine, weighing a total of approximately a quarter-pound.

Scheffler was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver — a felony. Scheffler’s bail was set at $20,000.

If convicted, the charge carries a sentence of 10-to-30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a fine not to exceed $25,000.

The other Independence County resident arrested on drug charges on April 2 was Colter S. Vanhorn, 29, of Cushman.

Court records filed Monday in Stone County Circuit Court say a motorcycle driven by Vanhorn was traveling east of Highway 14 and was pulled over for not having a license plate.

Officers made a search and found meth and marijuana after allegedly seeing Vanhorn drop a baggie before coming to a stop, the court records said.

Vanhorn was charged with one felony related to the methamphetamine and one misdemeanor related to the marijuana. Vanhorn was taken into custody and placed on a $5,000 bail.

If convicted on the felony, the charge carries a sentence of 0-to-6 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
