A vehicle-motorcycle accident at Violet Hill in Izard County on Tuesday afternoon took the life of one person and injured three others.
According to the preliminary fatality report, a Dodge driven by Phillip Gillihan, 30, of Melbourne, was traveling west on Highway 56 when Arkansas State Police said his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck three motorcyclists on Harley-Davidsons heading east on the state highway.
Killed in the collisions was Michall Morris, 47, of Heber Springs, the driver of a 1978 Harley-Davidson. State Police report three were injured: Gillihan, and the two other motorcyclists — Dwayne Woods, 65, of Denver, Colo., and John Milton, 62, of Heber Springs.
The report from the state police noted the weather was clear and the highway dry at the time of the accident.
Morris’ death was the 135th fatality on Arkansas highways this year.
