A man wanted in both Izard County and Stone County was found by authorities Monday in the parking lot of a Batesville hotel.

According to documents filed in Independence County Circuit Court, Christopher Day, 43, was wanted on felonies from both counties when information was forwarded to authorities that Day might be staying at the Ramada with his wife and kids.

After Day was observed by authorities standing next to an ATV in the hotel parking lot on Monday, he was taken into custody without incident, according to the arrest affidavit.

The court information alleges Day was found at the time to be in possession of a plastic baggie with a “large quantity” of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia (including digital scales, plastic baggies, and glass smoking devices), over $1,000 in U.S. currency, a key to the ATV (which was reported stolen in Mountain Home), and a key to a room at the hotel.

Inside the room, authorities reported finding Day’s wife, identified as Crystal Day, 40, who was also taken into custody after being discovered with a flashlight that contained a hidden baggie of meth inside of it, the affidavit said. The couple’s three minor children were also in the room and were turned over to the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, according to Crystal Day’s arrest affidavit.

Christopher Day is charged with possession of meth, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft by receiving. He is also being charged under the Habitual Offender Law. His bond was set at $75,000.

Crystal Day was charged with possession of methamphetamine and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree. Her bond was set at $5,000.
