Southside and Batesville educational tour students are asking for your support. They’re holding Trash-a-Thon to help fund their Paris and Italy trip, scheduled for Spring Break 2022.

In our area, there have been no community service workers picking up litter on the roadways since the start of COVID-19, which translates to over a year’s worth of litter along the roadways, according to trip organizers. Students going on the trip are asking for sponsors to make a donation, or pledge an amount per bag of trash that the group picks up from within the area.

The Trash-a-Thon event will take place on Saturday, May 1. The goal is to rid the area streets of at least 50 bags of litter. All money raised will go directly towards each student’s trip expenses. To make a donation or pledge, email Jackson Barber, a Southside teacher/tour chaperone at jackson.barber@southsideschools.org or Lynn Bray, parent organizer, at lynnannbray@gmail.com.

The European trip is being organized by Angela Weaver through Explorica, an educational travel provider. On the trip, students will experience the Louvre, the Colosseum, Vatican City, and many other historic sites.
