The first player in Batesville High School boy’s soccer history to score 100 points in a career was recently recognized in pre-game activities before a recent game. Junior Lopez’ 100th goal was scored last week in a conference game against Nettleton. So far this season, Lopez has led the Pioneers to a 16-1 record.

Although the season is winding down, BHS Athletic Director Dave King said the story is still being told. King said Lopez’ current grand total is 106, which he has scored in only 63 games. King says that kind of performance is remarkable — close to averaging two goals a game — plus, King notes Lopez has scored 106 goals in really three years. Last year, Lopez’ junior season was cut extremely short because of the COVID-19 situation. King, who describes Lopez as extremely fast, said you might say Lopez accomplished this tremendous record in only three seasons of play.

The soccer team is coached by T.J. Stroud (pictured above, left, with Lopez). They will travel to Siloam Springs in mid-June for state tournament play.
