Sheriff’s Department makes two arrests during sex offender compliance checks

Two arrests were made Thursday, May 6, during compliance checks conducted on a portion of registered sex offenders within the county, according to a statement from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.

In a statement, Sheriff Shawn Stephens said some of the other registered offenders were found to be in violation for not updating information required through the registration guidelines. These offenders have updated their requirements and are now in compliance with registration guidelines.

The two arrests made involved results of the compliance checks.
